WORKSHOP CONTENT

Hacking through the Central American rainforest, we stumble upon some ruins. Could they belong to a forgotten civilization? There’s only one way to find out more...dig down into a different world. The children will become the people of Palenque, a city-state in the mighty empire of the Ancient Mayans. This once thriving city has seen some hard times but, thanks to our new king, things are looking up. We explore the daily life of these people - we will discover how they feared the wrath of the gods and how much they were willing to sacrifice - sometimes literally - to appease them. An often requested topic for upper Key Stage 2, this workshop offers a great way to bring to life one of the most mysterious ancient civilizations.

WHAT TEACHERs SAY...

The children had a fantastic day and were fully immersed in Mayan culture!
