Covering the background to the war – why it happened and the consequences for children – each group then become part of a drama adventure where they prepare to leave home, go on a train and follow the procedure that would lead them to a ‘safe’ haven in the country.  Did all evacuees have a warm welcome?  What happened to their schooling? How different was this new life to the one they left behind?  An emotional roller-coaster full of scenarios to make the children think about what it meant to be a child in war torn England.
